Senior Services Network of the Mid-South, Inc. was formed over 20 years ago in the Nashville area. The original mission was that the Senior Services Network would be
“... a forum whereby individuals work, collaborate and exchange information and ideas in addressing the needs of elderly population of Metro Nashville and surrounding areas.”
The organization started with 10 members, who would meet at different locations around Nashville. The early growth of the organization was by word of mouth and the original 10 member group has now grown to more than 150. Currently, we have over 250 members and have implemented stability by keeping our meetings in the same places each month.
Today, Senior Services Network of the Mid-South (also known as "Senior Services Network" and "SSN") has expanded a chapter into the northern market. This will make it more convenient for members to have two different locations and meeting times to attend when available.
The SSN Central monthly meetings are held at the West End Church of Christ at 3534 West End Avenue - see the Meetings section for a link to the location. Meetings start at 8:30 AM and typically have networking from 8:30 to 8:45 AM and then a presentation. The focus of the meeting is educational but also provides the opportunity to network with other professionals. A table is provided for members to display literature about their services. At each meeting new members and visitors are allowed the opportunity to introduce themselves.
The SSN North meetings are held monthly the third Wednesday of the month in Gallatin, TN, in Room 112 of the Sumner County Administration Building at 355 Belvedere Rd.
Monthly Newsletters & This Website
The organization also publishes a monthly newsletter and the minutes from the monthly meetings. The newsletters are posted on this website.
Members of the organization volunteer their time to create and to manage this website. It is designed to foster communication within the organization and to attract new members. The group purchased the domain name www.SeniorServicesNetwork.org. A link to this website is also located on the homepage of The Seniors Resource Guide of Nashville at no charge as part of the plan to advertise and grow the organization.
The Organization Today
Today, Senior Services Network continues to meet monthly and stay abreast of the many changes in benefits and resources available to seniors. Along with education, the group has taken the role of advocate for change for senior issues.
Types of Members
The membership of Senior Services Network is comprised of an expansive list of professionals, who serve seniors and their adult caregivers through the cycle of aging. The services that focus around healthcare for seniors include those who work at hospitals, doctors' offices, and rehabilitation centers. A large portion of the membership focuses on providing health services in the home, such as: home health agencies, companion care, medical equipment, pharmaceutical services and oxygen services. Senior housing companies also comprise a large portion of the membership and include retirement communities, assisted living facilities and nursing homes; and several senior move managers. The membership also includes groups that provide end of life services such as hospice, funeral and cremation services, and grief support. Members who provide services of asset preservation, financial services, elder law and legal assistance are also included, along with those that focus on legislation on Medicare and Medicare reform, government benefits and supporting our veterans.
Plan to Attend One of Our Next Meetings
Through all of these professions, the Senior Services Network of the Mid-South provides a vital avenue to network and continue professional development. The original mission is still at the heart of Senior Services Network, ... “a forum whereby individuals work, collaborate and exchange information and ideas in addressing the needs of elderly population of Metro Nashville and surrounding areas.”
Plan to attend one of our next meetings - we look forward to welcoming you and learning about your services as we share our services with you.
