Vanderbilt University Medical Center is conducting a study to measure physical activity and fatigue in healthy male and female adults 65 years or older.  The purpose of this study is to find a way to measure how much energy is used and fatigue levels during different kinds of physical activities.  The amount of calories burned while doing various activities plays an important role in controlling body weight.  Previous studies have shown that how physically active a person is while doing a particular activity or how active a person is during the day are major factors that affect how much energy burns during any activity.  Compensation is available for participants in the study.  Volunteers will be asked to come to the General Clinic Research Center for one 3-hour visit.  Volunteers will be asked to complete multiple activities, including sorting small items, handwriting, reaching, sweeping, carrying weighted items, walking and sitting/standing.  If you know anyone who is 65 years or older and healthy that might be interested in participating in this study, please have them contact Natalie Meade, 615-343-8497.
